Art Therapy is a form of treatment that uses images as a way to communicate between client and therapist and largely replaces verbal language. By expressing oneself through drawing, painting, collage, shaping in clay or other materials, the client can get in touch with his/her inner world in a different way than just through words.
In many situations, it can be too difficult or painful to have a verbal conversation. In such cases, art therapy can be a good tool as it does not require emotions and memories to be verbalised. Therefore, it is well suited for the treatment of e.g., grief and crises, trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse problems.
Art therapy is suitable for all age groups, both preventive and rehabilitative.
One is not required to have the ability draw or to be artistically inclined, but that one expresses one’s self with form and colours as one pleases.
This approach is also excellent for artists and other professionals who want a method to further develop their creative selves.
Art therapy can be arranged individually or in groups of up to 6 people.
